Karma’s A B*tch! is a piece for Saxophone Octet commissioned by Dr. Nathan Mertens and the CU Boulder Saxophone Studio. Karma’s A B*tch! is a raunchy, snarky and nasty piece of music about the emotions and spiraling that goes on in one’s head after an altercation. The kind of altercation, verbal or physical, that is so vile, that it doesn’t end well for either party. Since there are two of each instrument, there are moments where the group splits in two, and “fight” each other to mimic the story being portrayed. Throughout this piece, we move through many different emotions and sections. At the end we finally find out that Karma’s a Bitch!
